Proper usage and maintenance
Proper usage and maintenance are vital for getting the most out of the valuable resources we have. Our designs are made to last for generations, but just like everything else, they need a little care to get there.
Oak with the botanical name Quercus spp. grows in most temperate zones. Skagerak oak comes from European forests.
Oak is a sturdy and hardwearing type of wood. The selection of the wood is extremely careful and all processing is done by hand, so that only the best and most durable pieces of wood are used in production. Oak contains tannins which reduces bacterial growth in the wood.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Your new product comes with an oil treatment. For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth. Spills are to be removed immediately to minimize risk of spots. The product is treated with an oil treatment that treats and seals the surface to make the best possible protection along with the valued aesthetical qualities of an oil treatment. Be sure to wipe over with a dry cloth after cleaning and leave no water to dry on the oiled surface.
Marble is a natural rock and one of the oldest building materials to mankind. As this noble and durable stone has been formed over millions of years from heat and pressure, each slab will turn out as a unique piece of art made by nature itself. The Skagerak marble is cut and processed in Italy, but has its place of origin in different countries across the world. Your new product includes green marble with the full name Verde Guatemala and has its origin in India.
Start by wiping off the surface with a dry, soft cloth to remove any dirt particles. For a regular cleaning, all you need is hot water and a soft sponge or cloth. For a deeper cleaning, apply a suitable, acid-neutral marble cleaner. Buff dry with a cotton cloth or chamois leather.
Note: Blot up spills immediately. Marble is a porous material and will etch if you spill acidic substances on it such as citrus, wine, coffee and vinegars. That is also why you should never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Remove stubborn stains with a poultice paste.
1) Mix baking soda and water into a thick paste.
2) Apply it to the stained area, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for 12-24 hours.
3) Then remove the plastic wrap and wipe off the poultice with a damp cloth.
4) The process might have to be repeated for a perfect result.
You can help protecting the surface from stains and etching by sealing the marble top once or twice a year. Use a suitable marble sealer or simply mix soap flakes with water and apply the foam on the table top for 5 minutes. Dry off with a soft, damp cloth.
