8. OUR PLANETARY COMMITMENTS
As a global company, we have a responsibility to respect our planetary boundaries. We work hard to reduce our CO2e emissions as much as possible and therefore we must reassess how we make our products and run our business.
REDUCING OUR FOOTPRINT
Every year we make a Climate Report measuring our total CO2e emissions for scope 1, 2 and 3. In 2020/2021 our total emissions amounted to 7.357 tons, and as expected the vast majority (99,5%) lies in scope 3. To reduce our emissions we therefore must work closely with our suppliers and business partners to find new and better ways to run our business.
WHAT IS SCOPE 1, 2 and 3?
Scope 1, 2 and 3 are used to classify a company’s greenhouse gas emissions, to get a better idea of which areas of the business has the biggest emissions – and whether it is a direct or indirect emission.
Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources that are controlled or owned by the company itself, for example, emissions from company cars.
Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, and heating and cooling of company facilities such as offices and warehouses.
Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources that are controlled or owned by the company itself, for example, emissions from company cars.
Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions associated with the purchase of electricity, and heating and cooling of company facilities such as offices and warehouses.
Scope 3 emissions are indirect emissions connected to activities that occur in the company’s value chain but are not owned or controlled directly by the company itself, for example, manufacturing of products by external suppliers, transportation and distribution, etc.
OUR FOCUS
Our focus is to collect more activity-based data and simultaneously pursue emission reductions related to our company cars, employee traveling, freight and energy use in our offices.
- Collaborate with energy consultants to reduce heating and electricity use in own facilities.
- Update our travel policy with inspiration on how to travel with less impact.
- Update our company car policy to only allow hybrid or electric cars.
- Investigate reduction opportunities with our freight partners.
- Use MÅLBAR tool to make design and production decisions that will reduce our product emissions.
TO US, CARBON NEUTRAL IS NOT ENOUGH
Purchasing offsets to get carbon neutral doesn’t erase or reduce the footprint we create and won’t solve the problems related to global warming. We are committed to reducing our emissions as much as possible, and only when we can’t reduce any more, will we compensate for the remaining emissions.
